Description	:	Loren L. Nordman, 83, of Madrid, Iowa, formerly of Charles City and rural Waverly, Iowa, died Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Madrid Home Communities in Madrid. Loren was born on May 18, 1928, in Clarksville, Iowa, the son of William and Alma (Sinram) Nordman. He attended country school at Pleasant Valley, rural Clarksville. Nordman, 83, of Madrid, Iowa, formerly of Charles City and rural Waverly, Iowa, died Sunday, September 11, 2011, at the Madrid Home Communities in Madrid. Loren was born on May 18, 1928, in Clarksville, Iowa, the son of William and Alma (Sinram) Nordman. He attended country school at Pleasant Valley, rural Clarksville. Following his schooling he helped his brother and mother on their farm as a hired hand. Loren was united in marriage to Mary Ann Rieckenberg on February 18, 1950 at Farmersburg, Iowa. Following their marriage, Loren joined his father-in-law, Art Rieckenburg on the family farm. Along with farming, Loren worked for 25 years with the Bremer County Road Department, retiring in 1995. In 2000, Loren and Mary Ann moved to Charles City and in 2009 they both moved to Madrid. Mary Ann died on May 18, 2011. Loren is survived by three daughters, Kendra Jean Nordman of Neenah, Wisconsin; Charlotte Kay Van Lengen of Ankeny, Iowa, Sharon Ann Kivisto and her husband, David of Leaf River, Illinois; one son, Darrell Arthur Nordman and his wife, Donna of Spencer, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Erik, Konur, and Isak Kivisto; Aaron, Travis, Jared, and Tara Van Lengen; Sara (Patrick) Neary, Jill (Brent) Nemitz, and Kyle Nordman; and one great grandchild, Jackson Nemitz. Loren was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Ann, a brother, Orville Nordman, a son-in-law, David Holtzman, and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 14, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church Western Douglas, rural Plainfield, Iowa, with Pastor Kim Thacker officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Church Cemetery Western Douglas. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home in Waverly. Memorials may be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church Western Douglas.
