Burial in the Ivy Hill Cemetery north of Malcom, Iowa. Lorene Alice Pearce was the daughter of Herbert Wilson and Rose Marie Selle Pearce. She was raised in the Grinnell area and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1942. She was married to William R Morrison on January 2, 1943 at her parent’s home on Elm Street in Grinnell. They had five children, William R Jr., who died in infancy, Rebecca, Terry, Jack, and Tom. Lorene loved living and raising their family in the rural area of Grinnell. She loved the animals on the farm and all aspects of country living, including being a 4-H Leader. Later in her retirement, Lorene shared her love of animals by writing fictional stories of animal adventures for her great grandchildren. Lorene began her working career at age 15 in a grocery store while in high school, and while raising their children, she worked at Rexall Drug, Harrison's Variety Store, Graham's, Malcom Lumber Yard in Malcom, Hamman's Apparel, and Dori's Fashions. Nearing retirement age, William and Lorene moved to town and continued working past the age of 70 until her health became a factor. Lorene loved meeting and helping people. Faith was very important to Lorene and her strong Christian faith had been a considerable influence in her daily life. Lorene taught Sunday School and Bible School at the Ewart Presbyterian Church. While a Mayflower resident she was a faithful attendee at Sunday Services, Chapel, and Prayer Circle.
