Read More	Lorene Bernadine "Rene" Cheslock, age 86, of Colorado Springs, CO passed away April 23, 2009 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was born March 9, 1923 in Halbur, Iowa, the daughter of the late John and Bernadine (Bruning) Skalla. Lorene was cherished by her family, friends and neighbors. She had lifetime devotion to prayer, her faith and family. Lorene was the cornerstone and soul of the family. Many benefited from her spiritual strength. Lorene dearly loved her husband, Chess, to whom she was married for 61 years. She inspired her children through the way she lived her life, a model of love and commitment. She taught the importance of lifelong values, hard work, compassion, thoughtfulness, and integrity. She was dedicated to her children, supporting their ambitions and encouraging them to achieve the potential she envisioned. Lorene was a true Westsider, and a parishioner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church for 85 years. She enjoyed stitchery, gardening, water-color painting, homemaking and activities in her church community. Lorene worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Co., School District 11, and Colorado College. She is survived by her three children, Leonard Christopher (Susan) Cheslock of Monument, CO, Lou Ann (Mark) Cheslock Skinner of Alamosa, CO, and Lance Alan Cheslock of Alamosa, CO; five grandchildren, Blake, Kelli, Louisa, Erin, and John; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers and sisters. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs. Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 1, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 2030 W. Colorado Avenue, Colorado Springs. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Colorado Springs. The family requests that memorial donations be made to La Puente Homeless Shelter, 911 State Street, Alamosa, CO 81101 or Silver Key Senior Services, 2250 Bott Avenue, Colorado Springs, CO 80904. The Cheslock family sincerely thanks the staff and nurses at Brighton Gardens for the care and support shown to our mother.
