Read More	NAPLES, Fla. — Lorene Buhrman-Chiancola, 90, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Grand Island, died Feb. 12, 2017. Local services will be at 10:30 a.m. April 8 at St. Libory Catholic Church. Lorene was born Nov. 28, 1926, in Wood River to Ray and Florence Ooley. In 1945 she graduated from Grand Island Senior High School and immediately went to work for B.J. Cunningham, a prominent attorney in Grand Island. She married Clifford Francis Buhrman on March 30, 1948, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in Grand Island and continued working in the law office until their first son, Douglas, was born in 1950. Cliff was transferred by Carpenter Paper Company to Sioux City, Iowa, in 1950 and later to Spencer, Iowa, where two more sons were born, Dennis and David. They moved to Yakima, Wash., in the summer of 1960. The family was very active there in the Catholic church, Rosarium Club, 4-H, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Kiwanis Club. In 1965 they were chosen by the Yakima Kiwanis Club to represent the state at the 50th National Kiwanis Convention in New York City. While in Yakima, Lorene worked in the office of the prosecuting attorney for the county as a secretary to the attorneys and court reporter in the lower courts. When Cliff transferred to the Seattle office of the paper company in 1967, they moved to Mercer Island, Wash. Lorene worked for the city of Mercer Island from 1967 to 1972. She then began work in catering sales for the Seattle Trade Center, advancing to director of catering and then director of sales, eventually retiring from that position. She was very involved with St. Monica’s Church in Mercer Island. In 1991 Lorene moved to Naples, Fla., to be with her son David. After being a widow for 17 years, an old friend came back into her life and she married Sam Chiancola on July 10, 1992, in Rockport, Mass. They had met in Nebraska in 1944. They spent the rest of their lives together in Naples. He died in April 2016 and she recently moved to Spokane. Survivors include a son, Dennis Buhrman, and his wife, Katy; many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many relatives in the Buhrman and Ooley family. She was preceded in death by two sons, Douglas and David Buhrman, and her husbands, Clifford Buhrman and Samuel Chiancola.
