Lorenzen, 87, died at the Anamosa Community Hospital Saturday night, Dec. 5, following an illness of several weeks. Services were Tuesday, Dec. 8 at 1:30 p.m. at the Goettsch Funeral Home with burial in the Wyoming cemetery. Rev. Richard Kling of St. Paul's Lutheran Church officiated at the services. He was born Dec.2, 1894,in Hale Township, Jones County, the son of Carsten and Emma Ahrendsen Lorenzen. He received his education in the rural Jones County schools and attended Clinton Business College. He served in WWI. He was married to Leona Zaruba June 17,1926, and the couple farmed near Wyoming. He became a township assessor and was employed by the federal agriculture department for several years while still active with his farm. Leona Lorenzen preceded him in death Dec. 10,1945. On Dec.22, 1946 he was married to Susan Wieneke Ingwersen and they lived on a farm near Wyoming. Mr. Lorenzen became Jones County assessor in 1947 and continued to make his home near Wyoming until moving to Anamosa in 1949. He retired from the office in 1979. He was a member of the Onslow Masonic Lodge and the Wyoming American Legion Post No.259. He is survived by his wife, Susan; three sisters, Mrs. Christina Petersen of Wyoming, Mrs. Ella Larkey of Onslow and Mrs. Anna Hintz of Oxford Junction; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Carl and Henry; and an infant sister, Hulda. Casket bearers were Louis C. Petersen, Lloyd Lorenzen, Robert Larkey, Kenneth Lorenzen, William Barnhart and Arnie Andreesen.
