Description	:	Loretta (Phillips) Cudd, of Laurens, SC, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens. Born March 17, 1921 in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edward Phillips and Josephine (Bray) Phillips. Loretta graduated from Gardner-Webb College in 1949, where she was on Student Council, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the Choir and Secretary to the Director of Guidance. Read More	Loretta (Phillips) Cudd, of Laurens, SC, died Sunday, November 4, 2012, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community in Laurens. Born March 17, 1921 in Greensboro, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edward Phillips and Josephine (Bray) Phillips. Loretta graduated from Gardner-Webb College in 1949, where she was on Student Council, Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, a member of the Choir and Secretary to the Director of Guidance. After graduation she continued her leadership, by becoming Educational Director at Morningside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, where she met her husband, the late Claud E. Cudd, owner of The Time Shop. They later attended Southside Baptist Church in Spartanburg, where they enjoyed loving relationships with the young families in the church. In 1986 she and her husband were founding members of the Martha Franks Community. They were devoted to the fellowship and all the activities there. Her brother, Sterling E. Phillips of Burlington, NC; and her niece, Gay Baynes of Onancock, VA, survive her. A graveside service was conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, November 8, 2012, in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, by the Rev. Dr. Russell Dean. A memorial service followed at 3:00 PM Thursday, November 8, 2012, in the Chapel at Martha Franks in Laurens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions could be made to Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, SC 29360. The family thanked the staff of Martha Franks for their loving friendship and remarkable care of Loretta and were are especially grateful to the extraordinary caregivers of Unit Three.
