Loretta was born December 9, 1913 in Brown County Ohio the daughter of William and Mary Ann Griner Schumacher. Loretta was a farmer from her early childhood helping her father in the fields. Lang, 101, Ripley, Ohio passed away Monday June 29, 2015 at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. Loretta was born December 9, 1913 in Brown County Ohio the daughter of William and Mary Ann Griner Schumacher. Loretta was a farmer from her early childhood helping her father in the fields. This hard work continued until February 2006 at which time she entered the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. After a hard day in the fields, she thoroughly enjoyed sitting on her front porch swing, making rosaries, watching the sunsets and neighbors passing by. Reading the bible was another favorite past time. She would frequently donate her crops to those who were in need. Loretta can best be remembered as the lady wearing one of her "famous" hats, dark cotton gloves and talking to her friends about raising her garden and canning of vegetables. Loretta was married to Edward Lang on January 17, 1933 by Father Ambrose at St. Michael's in Ripley. Edward preceded her death on June 5, 1986. She was also preceded by her siblings: Five brothers, Joe, Tony, John, Jerome and a little brother who died at birth. Six sisters, Lucille, Clementine, Lela, Jean Amber, Roberta and Jo Ann. In addition Loretta was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jean Ann Schwer, January 10, 2015. Survivors include two children, Jerry (Bertie deceased December 5,2005) Lang of Aberdeen, Angela (Bob) Rickett of Maysville; Son-in-law Eddie Schwer of Dunnellon, Florida; Seven Grandchildren, Shari (Ed) Stafford, Terry (Susan) Lang, Marita Lang and her faithful canine companion Nikki, Renee (Michael McFarland) Schwer, Tim (Tamara) O'Toole, Ann (Dave) Henderson and Heather (J.D.) Martz; Nine Great Grandchildren Jason (Lori) Lang, Heather (Bryan) Drake, Zack Martz, Kelly O'Toole, Jake O'Toole, Raleigh O'Toole, Kaleigh Henderson, Jannea Messer and Amy Allgeier; Seven Great-Great Grandchildren Hadley Drake, Jackson Drake, Jase Lang, Kaylin Mason, Tyler Mains, Brandon Mason, and Nathaniel Allgeier. Mass of Christian Burial for Loretta Schumacher Lang will be held at St. Patrick Church on Saturday, July 11th, 2015 at 11 (a.m.) with Rev. Michael Comer officiating. Burial will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Ripley, Ohio. Active pallbearers will be Tim O'Toole, Jason Lang, Terry Lang, Eddie Stafford, Bryan Drake, and Jeff Shelton. Visitation will be from 5 (pm) to 7 (pm) with rosary at 6 (pm) on Friday, July 10th at Brell & Son Funeral Home, 620 E. Second St., Maysville.
