Description	:	GORHAM - Lorette G. Giroux, 95, a longtime Waterville resident, passed away on Friday, March 21, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was the widow of Gabriel S. Giroux, a former city alderman and well-known barber on Water Street for more than 50 years. She was born in Waterville on Nov. 11, 1912, the oldest child of William and Florence (King) Bourgoin. Lorette had been a resident of Waterville for 89 years prior to her relocation to Gorham in 2001. Giroux, 95, a longtime Waterville resident, passed away on Friday, March 21, at Maine Medical Center in Portland. She was the widow of Gabriel S. Giroux, a former city alderman and well-known barber on Water Street for more than 50 years. She was born in Waterville on Nov. 11, 1912, the oldest child of William and Florence (King) Bourgoin. Lorette had been a resident of Waterville for 89 years prior to her relocation to Gorham in 2001. Mrs. Giroux was educated in local schools and was employed at Lincoln's Department Store on Main Street as a corsetiere for 13 years. At age 50, she became the medical secretary for the late Jean Bolduc, M.D., retiring from that position in 1982 after 20 years. As a member of Notre Dame Church, Mrs. Giroux was a volunteer for numerous church activities. She functioned as a eucharistic minister and was a charter member of the Ladies of St. Anne (later changed to the Ladies Guild) and its treasurer for 14 years. Lorette was also the first treasurer of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament Guild in Waterville. She is survived by two sons, Dr. Arthur Giroux and his wife, Nancy, of Melbourne, Fla., and Michael Giroux and his wife, Deborah, of Gorham; a sister, Alma Bouchard of Skowhegan; a brother, Roland Bourgoin of Winslow; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
