Description	:	Loring Tobler Sept 27, 1921-May 2, 2012 SIDNEY - Loring Tobler, 90, passed away Wednesday morning, May 2, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Sidney. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 5, in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Hyde officiating. Military graveside honors will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery. Loring Roy Tobler, the son of Roy Lee and Rose Dorah (Vosika) Tobler, was born Sept. 27, 1921 at Lodgepole. He participated in football and worked at the Sidney Sale Barn while in school and graduated from Sidney High School in 1939. Loring worked for the Union Pacific Railroad from 1939 until joining the United States Navy in 1941, serving his country in the South Pacific until his Honorable Discharge in 1945. Following his discharge Loring began his career in the farming and cattle business, which included acting as a cattle buyer for Rath Packing in the 1960s. He started feeding cattle in 1980, retiring in 2003. Loring was a District 77 School Board Member, a Charter Member of the Sidney Elk's Lodge, a 4-H Leader for the Huntsman Hustlers, raised and showed Quarter Horses and served on the Cheyenne County Fair Board for twenty-five years.Survivors include his daughter: Sandra Butler and husband Charles of Englewood, Colo.; sons, Dick and wife Carol of El-wood, Rodney and wife Carole of Sidney, Gary and wife Rachel of Lincoln, and Kent and wife Marcie of Kearney; sister, June Lindores of Cheyenne, Wyo.; brother, Larry and wife Karen of Henderson, Nev.; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Preceding Loring in death were his parents, Roy and Rose; wife, Ruth M. in 1995 and sister, Shirley Tobler. The Star-Herald May 6, 2012
