Description	:	Loris Marie Dudley, age 90, of Marshall, Missouri and a former Centerville, Iowa resident, died Sunday, June 13, 2010 at the Living Center in Marshall. She was born the daughter of John Leroy and Lela(Samuelson)Harris on May 25, 1920, near Plano, Iowa in Wayne County. She attended Galisburg rural school, Plano High School and later graduated from Centerville Junior College in 1939. She was a school teacher and a payroll clerk prior to her marriage. She was born the daughter of John Leroy and Lela(Samuelson)Harris on May 25, 1920, near Plano, Iowa in Wayne County. She attended Galisburg rural school, Plano High School and later graduated from Centerville Junior College in 1939. She was a school teacher and a payroll clerk prior to her marriage. On October 1, 1944, Loris was united in marriage to Ralph Carleton Dudley at the Drake Avenue Christian Church parsonage in Centerville, Iowa. She was an Elder, Sunday School Teacher and a former member of the Drake Avenue Christian Church, 4-H leader and a scout leader for many years in Centerville. In April of 1996, she retired from the farm and moved to Marshall, Missouri to be closer to her children. After moving to Marshall, she was a member of the First Christian Church in Marshall. She belonged to the New Century Sunday School Class, Monday Club and the Hospital Auxiliary in Marshall. She volunteered at the Marshall Christian Church, Marshall Senior Center and the Hospital Gift Shop. Being with friends, reading, vacations, sewing, gardening and horse back riding were times she cherished. Even at the age of 83, she traveled to Alaska for adventure. Loris is preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Ralph C. Dudley on March 17, 1987; brother, Robert Leroy Harris; sister, Donna Whitaker-Polson and Mary Lou Harris. She is survived by her children, Mary Rosalee Thurlo and her husband, Richard of rural Browning, Missouri, Thomas Harris Dudley and his wife, Beverly of Overland Park, Kansas and Cynthia Elaine Crowford and her husband, Robert of Marshall, Missouri. As well as six grandchildren and four great grandchildren and a special cousin, Joann Glenn of Plano, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 11 am at the Schmidt Family Funeral Home in Centerville, Iowa with Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Cincinnati, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 10 am till the time of services at the funeral home. Memorials can be made in lieu of flowers to either the Appanoose County Historical Society in Centerville, Iowa or First Christian Church in Marshall, Missouri.
