Read More	Clay Funeral Home Lorita "Rita" Marie Griffin (July 24, 1932 - April 3, 2014) YARMOUTH - Lorita "Rita" Marie Griffin passed away April 3, 2014 after a long battle with cancer and other health related complications. She was born in Dover Foxcroft, July 24, 1932, the daughter of Adelard Moses Long and Dorothy (Clukey) Long. She initially attended schools in Dover and then completed her education at Mt. Merici Academy in Waterville. She was employed many years in the health profession and then in 1983 passed her exam to be a licensed insurance agent. She became the first woman state manager in the country for AFLAC and traveled throughout the state where she met many people who continued to maintain a presence in her life. The best job she had, and the one she was most proud of, was being a mom. Rita lived a long and rich life as a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend. There wasn't a game of chicken or bean she didn't love and was especially fond of her trips to Las Vegas. When she was healthy, she enjoyed brook fishing, reading, cross word puzzles, dancing, gardening , spending time with her family and friends and never missed an evening of Jeopardy. In 2001, she married Vaughn Griffin, and described their short, yet loving marriage as the "best years of her life". Rita was predeceased by her husband, Vaughn; her brothers, Ralph and Carl; her daughter-in-law, Mary Hall; her stepson, Doug Griffin, her former husband, E.J. "Dick" Carter and her parents. She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hall Dreher and her husband, Joe; her son, Daniel F. Hall; a granddaughter, Cindy Rowland and her husband, David; great-granddaughters, Eliza and Sloane and her brother, E. David Long. Her surviving bonus children are Peggi Bryer and her husband, Carlton, Vicki Walters and her husband, Bill, Jan Hagen and her husband, Daniel and Bruce Griffin and his wife, Delores. There are many nieces and nephews plus bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who survive her. She was funny, compassionate, loving and an energy force in her own right. All who knew and loved her, will miss her. Friends and family may call 3:30-4 p.m. Sunday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Myles Cyr officiating. Interment will be in the spring in Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity are appreciated. A special thank you for your kindness and car for our mom to Beacon Hospice Services, especially Kerri, Jessica and Annette.
