A fountain of life and love, an empathetic listener to all who met her and rich in kindness; she was always ready with a smile and word of encouragement. She brought light, wisdom and compassion to every conversation. Lorna left this physical world suddenly on December 12th, 2021 at age 81, surrounded by her brothers and sisters in Christ in the place she loved most, St. James United Methodist Church. Born to Eleanor and Aubrey Wilson in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine on September 4th, 1940, Lorna graduated from Foxcroft Academy and met her husband Bill while selling movie tickets at the Center Theater in Maine. Together they have two beautiful children, James Christopher and Michelle Christine. Lorna is now in the loving embrace of her Savior Jesus Christ and her parents. Lorna was fiercely dedicated to her faith and loving, guiding and supporting her family. She documented family life through photos and short stories and published two memoirs. She epitomized Matthew 22:37-39 "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind," and, "Love your neighbor as yourself." She practiced agape love, putting love into action and making the choice to seek the wellbeing of others without expecting anything in return. She was an avid photographer and spent her days capturing the elegance and fragility of the world around her. Her quest to learn more about humanity sent her and Bill traveling across the globe where she documented the beauty of each smile, every sunrise and sunset. Through her travels she walked with the Maasai, joined the grieving along the banks of the Ganges, attended a wedding in India, shared Thanksgiving dinner with the poor in the streets of Kathmandu, drank tea with nomads in Turkey, spent time with school children in the People's Republic of China, climbed the Great Wall of China and ruins of Machu Picchu, rode camels into the eastern desert of Morocco, marveled at the Pyramids, gazed upon Mount Everest, stood in awe at Petra and looked upon the Holy Land of Israel and Palestine in wonder. Her interaction with different cultures, races and religions, along with her love for her own country, inspired her political and social advocacy here in the United States. She stood proudly, marched proudly, campaigned proudly and fought for social justice and equality for all. She was a proud member of the United Methodist Women and dedicated her life to humbly serving humanity by living a life of mission. She recently expressed that her final desire would be for us all to embrace the lyrics of Lloyd Stone's hymn, "This is My Song": Oh God of all the nations... peace for lands afar, and mine. This is the country where my heart is... But other hearts in other lands are beating with hopes and dreams as true and high as mine. Oh hear my song, thou God of all the nations, a song of peace for their land and for mine. Lorna is survived by her husband, Bill; son, Jim; daughter, Michelle; grandchildren, Elana, Marley, Madison, Quinn and Oliver; her sister Deanna; cousins Sandra and Gregory; nieces and nephews, as well as extended family and an abundance of friends. A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at St. James United Methodist Church in Kingston, New York on Sunday, January 9th, 2022, at 3:00 PM. An interment ceremony will be held at the Dover Cemetery in Dover-Foxcroft, Maine in spring 2022.
