Lorna was born August 11, 1919, in her home at Moorhead, the daughter of Walter and Martha (Marrow) Perrin. Lorna was raised on their farm at Preparation. She attended the Bailor Country School, Moorhead High School class of 1937, Wayne State Teachers College, and was a graduate of Morningside College with a Bachelor of Science in Education and History. Lorna was born August 11, 1919, in her home at Moorhead, the daughter of Walter and Martha (Marrow) Perrin. Lorna was raised on their farm at Preparation. She attended the Bailor Country School, Moorhead High School class of 1937, Wayne State Teachers College, and was a graduate of Morningside College with a Bachelor of Science in Education and History. She was a professional teacher for 42 years (1940-1982) in public schools in Sergeant Bluff, Monona County, Moorhead, and Soldier. Lorna married her childhood sweetheart, Darrrell George Wessell, on October 20, 1945. They have two children, Larry, born in 1947, and Lynette, born in 1950. Lorna was active in the Moorhead Community, Moorhead Christian Church, Order of the Eastern Star, the Bethesda Lutheran Church, the Library Board, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Moorhead Cultural Center, and was an interested historian of the Loess Hills and her Mormon family background of their 1800's history, which entwined with the Lewis and Clark Expedition. She also enjoyed traveling with family, letter-writing to many family and friends, crocheting, and story-telling. Survivors include her husband, Darrell Wessell of Moorhead, IA; a son, Larry (Georgine) Wessell of Moorhead, IA; a daughter, Lynette (John) Pohlman of Ames, IA; a granddaughter, Jessica Lyn Pohlman of Ames, IA; a sister-in-law, Ila Parker; nieces Darla Sorenson Poole, Sue Sorenson, Ann Sorenson Baker, Joyce Perrin Boyle, and Susan Parker; and nephews Jim Sorenson, Kevin (Connie) Parker, and Fred (Linda) Ellis. She was preceded in death by her parents; a special Aunt Evelyn Perrin; a brother, Warren (Lorraine) Perrin, and a sister, Nola (Darrell) Sorenson.
