Homan was born on April 22, 1923, at her parents farm in Fontanelle, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Arthur and Elsie Jane (Morgan) Ewing. Homan was born on April 22, 1923, at her parents farm in Fontanelle, Iowa, the daughter of Glen Arthur and Elsie Jane (Morgan) Ewing. She passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2013, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston, Iowa, at the age of 90. Lorraine graduated from Fontanelle High School in 1940. She then went on and attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and then went on to the University of Iowa receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in education in 1944. On May 11, 1943, she was united in marriage to Glenn Homan in Maryville, Missouri. To this union seven children were born: Martha, David, G.E., Claudia, Sarah, Scott, and Hugh. Lorraine was a teacher for a few years, Fontanelle city clerk, and served two terms as the Adair County Auditor. After retirement in 1994, she was the Resource Development Coordinator at the Good Samaritan Society in Fontanelle. Lorraine enjoyed quilting, knitting, cooking and reading. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and St. Louis Cardinals fan. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Fontanelle. She was a 90 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary as her parents started her membership at birth, a member of the University of Iowa Alumni Association and a member of the I-Club. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Homan in 1974; and son, G.E. Homan in 2003.
