A funeral Mass for Lorraine Josephine DeVille, age 83, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Watertown, SD, will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 6, 2010, at Holy Name Catholic Church in Watertown. Fr. John Lantsberger will be the celebrant. Music will be provided by Jane Rokusek as organist and Angelo Polsinelli as song leader. Lorraine passed away on Friday, January 1, 2010, at a Sioux Falls hospital. She was the widow of Raymond DeVille.

Burial will take place in the spring at St. Mary's Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearer will be Jeff Gnat. Active pallbearers will be: Doug DeVille, Linus Cordell, Leon Cordell, Tim Cordell, Adam Cordell, Chad Hartsel, and Mike Goodell.
Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Watertown on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 6:00 p.m. Scripture Wake Service. Visitation will resume on Wednesday prior to services at the church. The family is requested to meet on Wednesday at the church by 9:30 a.m. for a prayer service.
Lorraine was born on October 29, 1926, at Watertown, SD, to Peter J. and Katherine (Jellesma) Cordell. She attended Immaculate Conception Catholic grade school and Watertown High School.
On April 26, 1950, Lorraine married Raymond Paul DeVille in Watertown, SD. The couple lived in California and in 1954, moved back to Watertown. Lorraine worked at Dakota Poultry. They moved to Rapid City, SD, for a few years where she worked as a motel housekeeper. In 1974, they moved to Sioux Falls and Lorraine has resided there since. She was employed by Best Western Ramkota Motels as a housekeeper. Ray passed away on November 19, 2005, and Lorraine continued to reside in Sioux Falls.
She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Sioux Falls. Lorraine enjoyed traveling with Ray and their family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, visiting, and having coffee with friends.
Lorraine is survived by two children: Mary Ann (Dan) Hartsel of Gillette, WY, and Dana (Jan) DeVille of Rapid City, SD; five grandchildren: Chad, Christina, Carrie, Val, and Mike; numerous great and great-great-grandchildren; two brothers: Lavern (Shirley) Cordell, and Venard (Mena) Cordell, all of Watertown, SD; two sisters: JoAnn (Wendell) Gnat of Huron, SD, and Karen (Bob) Goodell of Omaha, NE; and her very special friend, Rogene Fox, of Bakersfield, CA.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and two brothers: Dennis and Jimmy. |
