Description	:	Lorraine K. Benthin, age 66, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Fr. Paul Rutten and Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate. Music will be provided by the I. C. Funeral Choir as well as Thomas Benthin and Rosemary Pesall accompanied by organist, Helen Gollnick. Benthin, age 66, of Watertown, SD, passed away on Friday, December 26, 2014. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2014, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Watertown. Fr. Paul Rutten and Pastor Scott Dempster will officiate. The family is requested to meet at the church on Wednesday by 10:00 a.m. to attend the services. Visitation will be at the Crawford Funeral Chapel on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service and will continue on Wednesday prior to services at the church. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Watertown. Honorary pallbearers will be all of Lorraine’s grandchildren. Active pallbearers will be: Kory Allen, Bob Wangler, Kaidyn Raasch, Nick Benthin, Steve Wietzema and Jerry Corey. Lorraine was born on June 23, 1948, in Sterling, IL, to Lonnie and Gladys (McKay) Wietgrefe. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1966 and furthered her education by attending Watertown Business University. Lorraine then spent some time traveling. On December 8, 1973, Lorraine married Edward Benthin at Watertown, SD. The couple made their home in Watertown, where they raised their 5 children. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where she belonged to the St. Francis Choir. Additionally, she enjoyed many other interests including spending time with family and her cat “Pumpkin,” participating in ‘Red Hat Ladies’ events, sewing, traveling, playing bingo and pinochle, dancing, as well as creating and exhibiting crafts at several local area fairs. However, her greatest passion was showcasing her fabulous cooking by preparing home cooked meals for family and friends. She is survived by her children, 12 grandchildren and one on the way and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother, Irvin.
