Lorraine grew up on a farm northwest of Schleswig, Iowa, receiving her education in a rural school near her home. Read More	Lorraine Kathryn Marie Christensen was born July 7, 1917, the daughter of John and Josephine Brockman Baeth. She died at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, Tuesday, February 23, 2010, at the age of ninety-two. Lorraine grew up on a farm northwest of Schleswig, Iowa, receiving her education in a rural school near her home. She was baptized in Christ and confirmed at the Friedens Evangelical and Reformed Church in Schleswig. On February 27, 1938, Lorraine was united in marriage to Herbert Christensen. They were blessed with the birth of three children. The couple farmed for sixteen years before moving to Mapleton where Lorraine began working at the Beef and Brew for ten years. The couple continued to make their home in Mapleton and purchased Herb's Recreation and Bar in Charter Oak where Lorraine worked for twenty years. After Herb passed away, Bob Creese took over the bar and Lorraine went to work for him. They later made their home together in Mapleton. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dow City. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing cards and fishing with Bob at Lake View or wherever there was a fishing pond. She also loved playing Bingo and going to the casino. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1964 and one son, Dean Christensen in 2008. Survivors include one son, Kenneth Christensen and his wife, Judy of Dow City; one daughter, Lois Riley and her husband, Michael of Mapleton; nine grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Lucille Jepsen and her husband, Raymond of Schleswig, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Friday, February 26, 2010, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison, Iowa. Pastor Tom Petersen officiated the services with inurnment to be held at a later date at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery south of Ida Grove, Iowa.
