Description	:	CENTRAL CITY — Lorraine L. Dexter, 84, of Central City died Monday, April 24, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Solt-Wagner Funeral Home in Central City, with the Rev. Janice Farrell officiating. Burial will be in the Bureau Cemetery by Pierce Chapel. Dexter, 84, of Central City died Monday, April 24, 2017, at CHI Health St. Francis in Grand Island. Lorraine was born in Hiawatha, Kan., to John and Valborg (Jensen) Mangelsen on June 30, 1932. In her younger years, her family moved from Hiawatha to south of Hordville. They then moved to the Clarks area and graduated from Clarks High School in 1950. Following graduation, Lorraine attended Nebraska Central Teachers College in Central City. Lorraine married Harold Dexter on June 4, 1953, at Pierce Chapel near Clarks. The couple lived their entire 63-year marriage in Central City. Lorraine taught school at Districts 8 and 25 for eight years. She worked for the Merrick County Courthouse in the Assessor’s Office for 30-plus years, and was elected the Merrick County assessor from 1979 through 2002. She was also a member of Pierce Chapel Methodist Church near Clarks. Lorraine enjoyed traveling and volunteering at the Thrift Shop and the State Fair. She was a very caring person who was very faithful in visiting friends and family in the hospital or nursing home. She also sent many cards to friends and family who were celebrating wedding anniversaries or birthdays. Family was very important to Lorraine, and she tried to make it to all of the children’s and grandchildren’s functions. She is survived by her husband, Harold of Central City; two sons, Ed and Laurie Dexter and Ted and Joyce Dexter, all of Central City; two daughters, Angie and Brian Mustion of Grand Island and Amy Carnes of Papillion; a brother, Albert Manglesen of Lake Ridge, Va.; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John Ed Manglesen; and a sister-in law, Annaliese Manglesen.
