Read More	Lone Tree Reporter, Thursday, January 11, 1923 Mrs. Edward Matthiesen of Bettendorf, formerly of Lone Tree, passed away at the Davenport hospital Monday, after an illness of six weeks duration. She was 25 years, 11 months and 8 days of age. Mrs. Matthiesen, formerly Lottie Kallous, was born in South English January 30, 1897. When seven years of age she came to Lone Tree with her parents to reside. She received her education in the local school and later completed a course in Irish’s Business college in Iowa City. For several years she served as stenographer in the office of the Zimmerman Steel company. On September 27, 1917, she was united in marriage to Edward Matthiesen. For the last seven years she has made her home in Davenport and Bettendorf. Besides her husband, Mrs. Matthiesen leaves her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Kallous of Lone Tree; one sister, Mrs. John E. Zimmerman of Davenport; and one brother, Fred Kallous, of Bettendorf. She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Mrs. Matthiesen was a young lady of many excellent qualities, and was always held in high esteem by her many friends and acquaintances here and at other places where she has resided. Her untimely death will be deeply mourned by many. Her bereaved husband, parents and other relatives have the sympathy of the entire community. Funeral services were held at the Reformed church Wednesday afternoon at 3:30, conducted by the Rev. E. D. Lantz. Burial was made in the Lone Tree cemetery. The pallbearers were F. V. Shoquist, G. B. Kirchner, Howard W. Younkin, Ronald Sherburne, Eddie Smid and Wayne Stonebarger.
