Description	:	Lou Ada B. Hanson passed away peacefully on April 4th, 2020. She was 90 years old and was born on December 23rd, 1929 to her parents, Harry Adolph Bogen and Lisette Sarah Meltzer, both now deceased. Mrs. Hanson grew up in Le Mars and De Moines, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she attended Ward-Belmont University in Nashville, TN. From there she went to Iowa State where she received a curriculum in Foods and Nutrition and a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics. She was 90 years old and was born on December 23rd, 1929 to her parents, Harry Adolph Bogen and Lisette Sarah Meltzer, both now deceased. Mrs. Hanson grew up in Le Mars and De Moines, Iowa. After graduating from high school, she attended Ward-Belmont University in Nashville, TN. From there she went to Iowa State where she received a curriculum in Foods and Nutrition and a Bachelors of Science in Dietetics. On November 3rd, 1951, she married Newton Felix Hanson, Jr. and they were married for 67 years. Mr. Hanson passed away on September 16th, 2019. Ms. Hanson was a housewife and worked briefly for the State’s WIC program in 1977-1978 traveling Calhoun county and the surrounding counties as well. She attended church at First Presbyterian Church in Gulfport, MS and was very active in her church life, volunteering when needs arose. She also helped with the GED program in Hancock county. She was a member of Diamondhead Community Church in Diamondhead and it was there that she helped with the Katrina disaster by running the kitchen for numerous volunteers on a daily basis. Her love was taking care of people especially her husband, Newton and her 3 sons. She loved to cook and entertain, quilting and playing games of all kinds. She is survived by her 3 sons, Phillip Benton Hanson (wife, Kim Sand), William Douglas Hanson (wife, Linda Hughes) and Hugh Kirkwood Hanson; 8 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren. She and her husband started their family in Bruce, MS, moved to Newport, AR in 1979 and then to Diamondhead in 1999. In 2014, Newton and Lou Ada Hanson moved to Seashore Highlands in Gulfport, MS to spend their final days. A special thanks to those staff members at Seashore who took great care of our loved ones. The family has requested a private service to be held sometime in the future. Ms. Hanson will be laid to rest next to her Mother in Ames, Iowa at the Forest Lawn Division of the Ames Municipal Cemetery. “MOM, may you rest in peace and know that we all loved you dearly. We will continue to be guided by your Spirit until we meet again in heaven.”
