Ard, 87, widower of Marilyn Wise Ard, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 25, 2021. Mr. Ard was born on September 7, 1933, in the Hannah Community of Florence County, son of the late Louallen Murray Ard and Everette Filyaw Ard. He was affectionately known by his friends and family as "L.E." and "Papa". He was retired from Charles Ingram Lumber Company and was a charter member of Mill Branch Free Will Baptist Church. Mr. Ard was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Mr. Ard enjoyed his annual family vacations to the beach and the mountains. He had a special love for music and enjoyed sharing his music with family and friends as well as singing in church. He had many talents, including playing the piano, guitar, and a variety of stringed instruments. He was a member of the Southeastern Bluegrass Association for many years and was known as "Big Brother" to many. Mr. Ard also cheerfully volunteered for McLeod Health for many years, making lifelong friends. He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Samuel E. Ard; sister, Olean Foxworth; and brothers, Nellon Ard, Sauls Vernon Ard, and Lew Elton Ard.
