She was born October 31, 1890, the daughter of the late Andrew Pierce Vest and Octavia Ellen Vest. She was a resident of Floyd County for more than 70 years and lived a long, happy and healthy life. She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Vest; three sons, W. Ward Vest, Isaac R. B. Vest, and Alfred Vest; one daughter, Lottie West. She is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Aldean Vest, Fairfax; Randolph (Monk) and Bessie Vest of Salem, Irvin and Corrine Vest of Roanoke, William (Bill) and Louise Vest of Radford; two daughters, Virginia (June) Peters of Thaxton, and Edith Sweeney of Floyd; one brother, Ted Vest of Arlington; one son-in-law, Raymond West of Floyd; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Vest of Alexandria; 19 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be Monday 11 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Robert Chapman officiating. Interment will follow in Stonewall Cemetery.
