Louida Anna Golter, 94 years of Fort Collins, Colorado, formerly of Wilcox, passed away on Friday December 23, 2016 at Columbine West in Fort Collins, CO. Louida was born August 6, 1922 at Wilcox, to Frederick “Fred” and Katherine “Kate” (DeVries) Reiss. She attended St. John’s Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Wilcox High School with the class of 1940. Following graduation, she attended the Hastings Beauty Academy, where she earned her cosmetology license. She owned and operated a salon in Wilcox until her husband returned from WWII. On September 15, 1943, Louida married Lloyd L. Golter in Stuttgart, Kansas. They lived on a farm near Wilcox until 1958 when they moved to Franklin, Nebraska. In 1960, they moved to Pawnee City, where they lived until 1966 when they moved to Elmwood. In 1989, Louida and Lloyd moved to Fort Collins, where she resided until her passing. Louida was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. She loved to garden with a special fondness for flowers. Many nights you would find her and Lloyd dancing until his health began to fail. Lloyd preceded her in death on January 2, 2003. Besides her parents, and husband, Lloyd; she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Arlynn; and brothers-in-law: H. John Wiederspan, Rolland Haas, and Harvey Harms. Louida leaves to celebrate her life; her two daughters: Katherine “Kathy” Johnson and her husband, Wally of Trophy Club, Texas and Linda Martin and her husband, Joe of Gilbert, Arizona; three grandchildren: C.K. Wolfe and Brad Wolfe both of Boulder, CO and Carla Falcone and her husband, Todd of Scottsdale, AZ; two great-grandchildren: Gianni and Joey Falcone; sisters: Landis Wiederspan of Lincoln, Nebraska, Belva DeBord and her husband, Ron of Lincoln, and Audrey Haas of Kennewick, Washington; brother, Jim Reiss and his wife, Marsha of Loveland, Colorado; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Harms of South Jordan, UT; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Visitation was held prior to the services at the Bauer- Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox. A memorial has been established in Louida’s honor and kindly suggested to the United Cerebral Palsy Organization. As a young woman, Louida helped care for a boy with cerebral palsy, instilling a special place in her heart for those suffering from the disease so memorials may be sent to www.ucp.org Expressions of caring and kindness can be sent to the family at www.nelsonbauerfh.com The Bauer-Torrey & Mach Funeral Home in Wilcox was in charge of the arrangements.
