Mr. Welch was born in Turbeville, SC, the son of the late L. Columbus and Rosa Morris Welch. Louie served in the South Carolina National Guard. He was a member of Northgate Baptist Church, Florence, SC. Mr. Welch retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company as an Insurance Agent with 26 years of service. For his many years of service, Mr. Welch received many awards and recognition for excellent service and traveled extensively during this time. His love for the Lord, gave him the opportunity to express his love through music. Mr. Welch had a music ministry going to the prisons, nursing homes and anywhere he could share his testimony. He was an avid gardener and loved to be outdoors. Surviving is his wife of 55 years Patricia Kirby Welch, Florence; a son, Louie E. "Chuck" Welch, Jr. and his wife Sherry, Florence; a daughter, Karen Gaskins and her husband Donald, Timmonsville; two brothers, Lonnie Welch (Karen), Florence, Daniel Welch (Loren), Lake City; three sisters, Rosa Lee Driggers (Harry), Turbeville, Bertha Coker and Bobby Jean Cason both of Sumter, grandchildren, Amber (Robin) Thompson, Dustin C. Welch, Mark (Brandy) Carmichael, Daniel (Katherine) Carmichael, Brandy (Keenen) LaVigne and three great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Morgan Thompson and Jaden LaVigne; a special brother-in-law Jimmy Kirby and his wife Louise. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Cherie Welch and a brother, Harry Welch. The family would like to THANK the staff of Carolinas Hospital and Carolinas Hospice for all of the love and care given to the family during this time. Layton-Anderson Funeral Home, 4210 W. Palmetto Street, Florence, SC is assisting the family.
