Description	:	Mrs. William C. Melcum, 69, died last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at her home in Hayesville after suffering a stroke the previous Wednesday. Mrs. Melcum was born on February 20, 1878 in Lancaster township and was a daughter of Marcellus and Mollie Gilliland. She attended the Lancaster school and her early life was spent in the Lancaster community. She was united in marriage to Frank Molumby and they established their home in Minnesota where they lived until his death in November 1935. In February 1939, she was married to William C. Melcum, 69, died last Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at her home in Hayesville after suffering a stroke the previous Wednesday. Mrs. Melcum was born on February 20, 1878 in Lancaster township and was a daughter of Marcellus and Mollie Gilliland. She attended the Lancaster school and her early life was spent in the Lancaster community. She was united in marriage to Frank Molumby and they established their home in Minnesota where they lived until his death in November 1935. In February 1939, she was married to William C. Melcum of Hayesville and spent the remainder of her life at Hayesville. Early in life, she became a member of the Lancaster Christian church later transferring her membership to the Hayesville Community church, where she was active in church, Sunday school and the Ladies Aid society. She also was a member of Aspasia chapter, Order of the Eastern Star in Sigourney. Surviving are her husband; her daughter, Mrs. Nina Blake of New Albany, Indiana; four sisters, Julia McNurlen of Long Beach, Calif., her twin, Cora Herrell and Florence Gilliland of Hayesville and Myrtie of North English; a stepdaughter, Lulu Tygart and two step-grandsons, Leonard and Raymond Tygart of Hayesville. The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at the Hayesville Community church, conducted by the Rev. Roy A Wilson of Sigourney. Burial was made in Pennington cemetery.
