Description	:	Sargent resident, 78 BROKEN BOW - Louie John Ropers, 78, of Sargent died Saturday, June 22, 2013, at Jennie M. Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sargent School Auditorium with the Rev. Mark Middendorf officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Sargent. On Sept. 22, 1957, he married Delores Hinrichsen in Lexington. Survivors include his wife of 55 years; daughter, Jill Trusler and her husband, Tim, of Omaha; sons, Louie Ropers Jr. and his wife, Jackie, of Sargent, Kent Ropers and his wife, Dori, of Axtell and Gary Ropers and his wife, Angie, of Omaha; daughter, Judy Newhouse of Hong Kong; grandchildren, Kyle Ropers and his wife, Amie, Tabbi Seevers and her husband, Ty, Patrick Ropers, A.J. Ropers and his wife, Abby, Paige Ropers, Calie Trusler, Paula Newhouse, Katie Ropers, Justin Ropers, Madelynn Ropers, Michael Ropers, Macie Ropers, Malorie Ropers and Matthew Ropers; great-grandsons, Tatum Seevers and Tilden Seevers; sisters, Anna Graczyk and her husband, Ed, of Sumner and Helen Barta of Lexington; and brother, Henry Ropers and his wife, Wanda, of Rockville. His family moved to the Oconto area when he was 9. Louie went to country school in Oconto and graduated from Lexington High School in 1952. He and Delores started their lives together in Broken Bow. In 1962, they moved to Sargent where he started his own business, Louie's Body Shop. He was a member of the Nebraska Army National Guard in Broken Bow for 10 years, member and elder of Peace Lutheran Church in Sargent, Sargent School Board member, Keyvilla Board member, Boy Scout leader and a Chamber of Commerce business owner for 37 years. He retired and turned the body shop over to his oldest son, Louie Jr., in 1999. He continued to work at the body shop until his second retirement in 2002. Louie loved watching his children and grandchildren in their many activities as well as spending many hours in his flower and vegetable garden. He enjoyed square dancing with Delores and other dance couples. Louie cherished the morning and afternoon coffee shop breaks allowing time to play cards, roll dice and talk politics. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Betty Barta and Minnie Hanson. Published in Kearney Hub on June 24, 2013
