Mr. Glebe suffered much and insisted on an operation in the hope of relief. For 20 years he was known in Nelson, Mt. Clare and Lawrence, where he was engaged in farming and stock buying and being of a jovial, hospitable turn he made friends whom he met always with a warm hand clasp and cheerful felicitations. In his passing we are sharply reminded of the uncertainty of the journey through life's fitful course and the suddenness with which man's hold here may be severed. Mr. Glebe was aged about 55 years, and six months ago to all appearances he was enjoying life in its fullness. Since his residence in Blue Hill some years ago he came only frequently to Lawrence, yet the past spring he renewed his stockbuying in this vicinity. Funeral services for Mr. Glebe were held at the Catholic church at Blue Hill on Monday morning, a very large gathering of friends being present to pay respects to the departed. – Lawrence Locomotive The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, August 27, 1925; pg. 6 Louis A. Glebe was born in Germany on Jan. 1, 1870 and came to this country when a mere lad. He died Aug. 14, 1925, aged 53 years, 7 months 14 days. Mr. Glebe moved with his family from Lawrence to Blue Hill in 1911. In 1896 he was united in marriage to Bertha Jacobitz at the time he farmed, near Mt. Clare. To this union were born seven children. Two sons preceded him to the grave in infancy. Surviving are the wife, Edward, Bessie, Millie, Lillian and Edna. A sister, Mrs F.R. Morgan, of Hastings and a brother, Gus Glebe, resides in California. His mother, Christine Glebe, is still living in the native home, Germany. Funeral services were held at the Catholic Church, Blue Hill, Monday morning, Aug. 17, conducted by the Rev. Father Welk. Mrs Jennie Sass had charge of the music at the services, which were beautifully impressive. The pallbearers were: Fred Hopke, Harry Eggleston, Morris Weist, Fred Bock, Wm. Grey and Adolph Spirk.
