Alvin was the son of Janie Bourdon-McClure, Lindy McClure and Jody Ducharme. Throughout his younger years, he attended school in St. Ignatius before making the decision to trek across many miles to Chilocco Indian Boarding school in Newkirk, Oklahoma. During his time in Chilocco, Alvin was instilled with a pristine sense of upkeep and time schedule, he made many lifelong friends, and engaged in many extra-curricular activities. His eyes lit up when he talked about his accomplishments in sports during the years he attended, especially in football and basketball. Alvin graduated from Chilocco in 1964 before returning home to St. Ignatius to also walk at graduation with his buddies from St. Ignatius High School. Alvin was a great athlete and still holds records at MHS. His passion was to be on the field playing, coaching or umpiring softball. He was on many teams throughout his lifetime and there was not a weekend that went by that tournaments were not played. It was safe to say that his glove and bat would never collect dust. Softball was always his passion, but in later years his attention turned to his kids and grandkids and watching them play and coaching them. He coached many teams, touched many lives and always pushed everyone to do their best. He was an avid coin collector and also a keeper of "shiny things." Not only was Alvin physically engaged in many activities, his mind was sharp and he often loved to play strategic games such as chess and checkers. He loved being outdoors and the majority of his career was spent working for the CSKT Forestry Department as a forester technician. In 1968, he married Lois Lafromboise (Slater) and together they had four children. They later divorced and while umpiring on the softball field he met the love of his life, Kathy Ann Krantz. It was not love at first sight, but it was a love story for the books. Kathy brought out the life hidden in Alvin and together they built their lives around their greatest passion, family. On Aug. 1, 1987, Kathy and Alvin tied the knot in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, with two of their best friends present, David and Sherry Scheeler. They made their home in St. Ignatius, where they welcomed their first and only child together in May of 1988. Throughout the years Alvin and Kathy worked very hard to provide them the life they wanted – both putting in long hours so that they could enjoy their time off doing the things they loved. Many memories were created on the road traveling to softball tournaments, off-the-map destinations and out of state. Alvin and Kathy always were sure to include their children in these memory-making ventures, whether it be at their home or on the roads. In 2006 when Kathy passed, the light in Alvin's eyes seemed to dim. In 2012 when Alvin suffered a stroke, a change in him could be seen by many, but his mind was still sharp and his passion for life seemed to re-spark. He didn't take one minute for granted after that and enjoyed passing much of the time watching his black and white westerns, spending time with his grandchildren and passing on the memories he had through stories. Alvin has touched the lives of many teaching through stories, actions and even in silence. He suffered through many great loses over the years, but always kept his composure as he was a real-honest-to-God definition of a man. He was a man who had been through so much in his life and always seemed to find a way to keep on pushing through the obstacles that were set before him. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Wasi; his mother, Janie; his fathers, Lindy McClure and Jody Ducharme; his wife, Kathy; grandson, Lindy Louis Junior Quequesah; and his very best friends, Jerry Asay and David Scheeler. He is survived by his daughters, Kimberly, Nichole (David), Cori (Carlos), Jamie (Charlie) and his son David; his grandchildren, Mariah, Madison, Jeffrey, Justin, Carli, Christopher, Austin, Jerimiah, Jett, Joanie, Keithetta and Michael; great-grandchildren, Cayliana, Brooklyn, Eastyn, Cayani, Sophie and Christopher; and his many sisters, brothers and cousins.
