Description	:	Louis Hamdorf was a son of Christian and Christina Hamdorf, now deceased. He was born Feb 16, 1891, on a farm near Lost Nation, IA, and nearly his entire life was devoted to farming. He attended the rural schools and the Evangelical parochial school in Lowden. He was baptized in infancy in St. Pauls church in Wheatland by Rev. Zipf, and was confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Church at Lowden in 1909. Read More	Louis Hamdorf was a son of Christian and Christina Hamdorf, now deceased. He was born Feb 16, 1891, on a farm near Lost Nation, IA, and nearly his entire life was devoted to farming. He attended the rural schools and the Evangelical parochial school in Lowden. He was baptized in infancy in St. Pauls church in Wheatland by Rev. Zipf, and was confirmed in the Zion Evangelical Church at Lowden in 1909. He moved from the Lost Nation vicinity to Massillon with his parents in 1911, since which time he had worked on various farms until the past few months he had been manager of the Claus Von Essen Cafe at Toronto. During the World War, he served in camps in the US and was overseas for several months, in Co. I, 349th US Infantry, 88th Division, and other members of his company from this locality were Harry Witte, Adolph Dienst, Jack Bicknese and his cousin, the late Herman Hamdorf. Louis Hamdorf, better known among all his associates as "Butch" was a mann well liked by all who knew him. Congenial and square dealing, "Butch" Hamdorf had many friends who will miss him. He is survived by four brothers, Chris of Massillon, William of Lowden, Albert of Stanwood and Edward of Wheatland; and three sisters, Mrs. Minnie Ehlers of Prairie City, Ore., Mrs. Emma Mohl of Lost Nation, and Mrs. Herman Riedesel of Wheatland; also several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held from the Wm. Hamdorf home at Lowden at 1 o'clock Sunday afternoon and from Zion Evangelical Church, in Lowden at 2 o'clock with Rev. F. J. Abele officiating. Burial was made in the Massillon Cemetery, with Wheatland Post 447, American Legion, holding the military burial rites for the departed member of their post.
