When he was 2 years old, his family moved down to Whitman County, Washington, where he had lived since then. On the 14th of February 1909, he married Laura Jenkins and 5 children were born: Harold, Colfax; Vernon, Spokane; Mrs. Alfred Schutz, New York; Leland, Spokane; and Floyd, who died serving as an infantryman. The one who was called home was baptized in 1900 in the Colfax Mennonite Church and was a lifelong active member in different offices, such as S. S. teacher, choir director, 7 years as secretary-treasurer, and trustee, in which office he served for 24 years. Also, he was active in community life and served on school boards, was director of the telephone company and the cemetery association. He was active until 3 months ago, when he went to Colfax, and then afterwards was taken to the Spokane Hospital. Surviving are his wife, 3 sons, 1 daughter, 3 nephews, 5 brothers: Will, Edward, Sam, Ira and John, all from the Colfax area, 2 sisters: Mrs. Mary Buri, Colfax, and Mrs. Elmer D. Widmer, Albany, Oregon; 1 uncle, Ernst Aeschliman, Colfax; and an aunt, Mrs. Rose Rubin, Pullman, Wash. The funeral was on the 3rd of August in the Mennonite Church under the leadership of Minister W. Harley King and the participation of the Methodist minister.
