Church at Angus for Louis F. Ahrens, 69, who passed away at his farm home near Oak Saturday. Mr. Ahrens was a native of Deshler and farmed in the Edgar and Oak areas. He is survived by his wife Viola; sons, Eugene of Oak and Edwin of Ogallala; four grandchildren; brothers John of Arnold and August of California; and a sister, Mrs. Clay Hull of Edgar. Burial was in the Edgar cemetery (sic). The Nelson Gazette, Thursday, March 3, 1966 - Oak News; pg. 3 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Louis Fredrick Ahrens, son of August and Emma Ahrens, was born February 7, 1897 near Deshler, Nebraska and passed away at his home near Oak at the age of 69 years and 18 days. He was baptized in infancy at the Kiawa (sic) Lutheran Church and was confirmed at Fridensau (sic) Lutheran Church at the age of 14. He later transferred his membership to the EUB Church at Angus, where he remained a member until his death on February 26, 1966. In 1919, he, with his parents, moved to a farm northeast of Angus. On March 5, 1922 he was united in marriage to Viola Melvin. To this union were born two sons, Edwin of Ogallala, Nebraska and Eugene of Oak, Nebraska. He leaves to mourn his passing his devoted wife, who so tenderly cared for him during his long suffering; his two sons; four grandchildren; two brothers, August of Crescent City, California and John of Arnold, one sister, Mrs. Lydia Hull of Edgar; other relatives and friends. His parents, one brother, and one sister preceded him in death. He was a devoted father, always thinking of the comfort and welfare of his family. He was a dependable neighbor, always ready to assist in any way he could. Funeral services were held March 1, 1966 in the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Angus, Nebraska with the Rev. Clifford Bahr officiating. Casket bearers were Merton McCartney, Alex Brown, Otis Brink, Lavon Schoof, Jack Montgomery and Wayne McClure.
