Description	:	Louis Gambaiani, age 93, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Louis was born on a farm on June 11, 1918, in Douglas Township near Frederika, Iowa the son of Alfonso and Santa (Dinelli) Gambaiani. From there the family moved to Plainfield, farming there for three years, and then moved to the Willow Lawn Farm on the West edge of Waverly in 1922. Read More	Louis Gambaiani, age 93, of Waverly, Iowa passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly. Louis was born on a farm on June 11, 1918, in Douglas Township near Frederika, Iowa the son of Alfonso and Santa (Dinelli) Gambaiani. From there the family moved to Plainfield, farming there for three years, and then moved to the Willow Lawn Farm on the West edge of Waverly in 1922. He attended country school thru eighth grade and then High School in Waverly graduating in 1935. He then attended a one year business course at Wartburg College. He started working for Harland Yarcho in his Auto business in the fall of 1936. On August 24, 1941 he was united in marriage to Darlene Doris Schmidt in the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Tripoli, making their home in Waverly where they raised two daughters, Sandra and Diana. Lou continued at the auto dealership until January 26, 1943 when he entered the U.S. Army where he served for three years returning to the Yarcho Motor Co. dealership after Service. In 1956 he acquired a partnership in the business and in 1961 became solo owner. This he operated as the Yarcho Motor Company with the help of wife Darlene, until the early 80's when they retired. Louis was a member of the United Methodist Church in Waverly and also a 50 year member and Past Commander of the American Legion, Post 176 in Waverly, and 50 years with Tyrell Lodge of Waverly. He enjoyed playing baseball with the Waverly town team-the Waverly Bears-from 1938 through 1941, also bowling, golfing, and mushrooming with his wife, family and friends. His greatest interest was his family. He is survived by one daughter, Diana Gambaiani of Cedar Falls, son-in-law Gary (jean) Frederick of Marion, two grandchildren; Adam (Amy) Frederick of Ankeny, Amy (Matt) Hussel of Marion, 4 great grandchildren, brother, Paul (Dixie) Gambaiani of Hawarden, Iowa, special friend Lila Hall. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Darlene on June 11, 2000, daughter Sandra Frederick, brothers; Joe, Tony, Frank, Benny, John, and Pete, sisters, Ida Moulds, Mary Nissen, and Eliza Gambaiani. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Chapel at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly with Pastors Deborah Coble Wise and Allen Bidne officiating. Burial will follow in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly with military rites conducted by the American Legion, Post 176 f Waverly. Friends may call from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday at the Funeral Home in Waverly and also an hour prior to the services at the Good Shepherd Chapel on Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Waverly, Trinity United Methodist Church of to the American Legion, Post 176 of Waverly.
