Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery with military rites by Busch-Dennis Post of the American Legion, Mechanicsville. The son of E W Roy and Barbara Elizabeth Svoboda Gamble, he was born at Mt. Vernon Dec. 21, 1914. He graduated from Lisbon high school in 1932. He married Pauline Boots at Cedar Rapids Aug. 23, 1958. Mr. Gamble spent most of his life in the Mechanicsville area. He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad as a section hand before entering military service March 6, 1941. He served until Dec. 26, 1945, including 10 months and 11 days overseas as a member of a services company of the 302nd Inf. Regiment. He retired form Wilson Foods in 1978 after 29 years of employment. Mr. Gamble was baptized into the Federated Church at Lisbon. He was a member of the United Food and Commercial Workers, AFL-CIO, Local P-3, Cedar Rapids and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife; a stepson, Richard Mindham, Mechanicsville; a brother Joseph, Mechanicsville; 3 step-granddaughters, Mary Mindham, Mechanicsville; Jean Petersen, Olin; and Susan Fleming, Tipton; a step-grandson, Staff Sergeant Billy Joe Mindham, Ft.
