Meyer, 53, a longtime resident of this community, passed away suddenly in his sleep Thursday morning at his home east of Luana. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock in the home and at 2:30 in St. Paul's Lutheran church in Postville, the Rev. R. C. Schlueter of Monona conducting. Interment was in the Postville cemetery. Miss Gretchen Zieman was the organist and a girls' trio sang during the services. Louis Henry Ludwig Meyer was born in Bloomfield township, Winneshiek county, near Castalia, on June 30, 1892, the son of Fred J. end CharlotteSchroeder Meyer, and grew to manhood in that community. He was married to Miss Mahala Sander of Postvilie by the Rev. E. Schmidt of St. Paul's Lutheran church on February 17, 1916, and one son, Orville, was born to this union. The family farmed near Postville until the spring of 1944 when they purchased a farm a mile east of Luana where Mr. Meyer passed away. He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's church. Surviving him are his wife and son; three brothers, William L. and Henry L. of Postville, and Edward of Castalia; three sisters, Mary, Mrs. Ed Schlee and Ella, Mrs. Elmer Hoth, both of Postville, and Mrs. Helen Koevenig of Decorah, beside numerous other relatives and friends. His parents, four brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
