Description	:	Louis Kroenke, 81, of Dodge died Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at Parkview Home Inc. in Dodge after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this summer. Kroenke was born Nov. 14, 1922, south of Dodge. He attended District 32 School and St. Wenceslaus Catholic schools, and was a 1940 graduate of Dodge High School. He was employed at Douglas Aircraft in California before serving in the U.S. Army's 1874th Aviation Engineers during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater from 1943-46. Kroenke was born Nov. 14, 1922, south of Dodge. He attended District 32 School and St. Wenceslaus Catholic schools, and was a 1940 graduate of Dodge High School. He was employed at Douglas Aircraft in California before serving in the U.S. Army's 1874th Aviation Engineers during World War II. He served in the Pacific Theater from 1943-46. He married Rose Mary Steffensmeier on June 30, 1948, in rural Dodge. They farmed south of Dodge since 1946. They moved to Dodge in 1981. He was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge and the Holy Name Society. He held various offices, including commander, as a member of Dodge American Legion Post 122 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8597. He also was a member of the Nebraska Cattlemen's Association and a past officer of the Dodge County Livestock Feeder's Association. He was a member of the Dodge County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service committee, the Dodge County Extension Board and the District 32 School Board. Survivors include: his wife; a son, Gary Kroenke of Dodge; a daughter, Carol (Mrs. William) Nish of Omaha; a brother, Aldred (and wife, Justine) Kroenke of Dodge; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter and a sister. The funeral Mass will be at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Dodge with the Rev. Mark McKercher officiating. Burial will be in St. Wenceslaus Catholic Cemetery in rural Dodge with military rites by the Dodge American Legion Post and the Dodge VFW Post. Humlicek Funeral Home in Dodge is in charge of arrangements.
