Description	:	Louis, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 8, 1997, at home surrounded by his family. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Longmont, Colo., the son of G. H. Lupe and Florence Alva. Read More	Louis, 73, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 8, 1997, at home surrounded by his family. He fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born Dec. 3, 1923, in Longmont, Colo., the son of G. H. Lupe and Florence Alva. As an infant, his family moved to Billings where he has lived since Louie attended Billings schools and later served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946 during WWII. On May 31, 1947, Louie was united in marriage to Pita Garcia and together they had five children. Louie and Pita had just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Louie worked for Yellow Cab and for the Northern Hotel as a cook. He loved to dance and won many dance contests in his lifetime. He especially liked Mexican Dances and no woman sat for long when he was around. He also enjoyed going to Al's Tavern on his motorized scooter to see his friends and to play Keno. Even his diabetes that took both of his legs couldn't keep him home. Louie enjoyed people and life and to many people was "Uncle Lou." He will be missed by so many people. Louie is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pita,; his two sons, George (Pat) of Denver, and Larry; his three daughters, Debbie Rukstad, Trisha (Chet) Limberhand, and Louise (Peaches) Hernandez, all of Billings. Other survivors include 13 grandchildren, Tim, Chester, Angelia, Marco, Kim, George, Tammy, Jimmy, Kellie, Stacy, Michael, Matthew, Andrew Louis and one special great-grandson, Christian, who always bought his "Grandpa Lou" something at the dollar store. He is also survived by his sisters, Helen Franco, Frances (AG) Padilla of California, Josie Moncada of Billings; his brother, Marty Alva of Arizona; and a sister-in-law, Isabel (Tom) Marquez of Albuquerque, N.M.; his compadre and longtime friend, Sal (Lilly) Briceno of Billings; and many special nieces and nephews who were a great comfort to him in these last months. Louie will be reunited with his parents, his brother, Fidel, and sister, Margaret. Lou - thanks for the 50 years! It was a long struggle but you held on to celebrate our anniversary. We will be together again someday, so until we meet again, remember we will miss you and love you. A vigil service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 11, 1997, at Dahl Funeral Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church with rite of committal in Holy Cross Cemetery with full military honors.
