Another of this community's old time residents was called to his eternal reward when Louis Mueller, Sr., passed away at 9 o'clock Thursday evening 30 October 1930 at the farm six miles east of Hooper, NE, that had been his home since 1870. His demise is attributed to heart trouble from which he had been a sufferer for some time past. Mr. Mueller, who had attained the age of 82 years, 4 months, and 22 days, was a native of Germany, where he was born 7 June 1848. When but a child he came to America with his parents, the family locating at Rich [Township, Cook County], Illinois, where he grew to manhood. He came to Nebraska in 1870 and settled on the farm east of Hooper, NE, that had been his home ever since. On 7 October 1870 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Mosel, who passed away in 1920. As a resident of this community for sixty years, Mr. Mueller suffered the trials of early days and then the comforts of the land of plenty in the later years. He was a successful farmer, a home-loving man, and highly respected by the people in the community in which he always took an active interest in its affairs. Following the death of his wife Mr. Mueller retired from active farm work but remained on the old farm to make his home with his son Herbert and family. He is survived by five children: Otto and Mrs. Adolph Moll of Sidney, Nebraska, Ernest A. of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Louis C. of Fremont, Nebraska, and Herbert G. of Hooper, NE. Other surviving relatives are a sister, Mrs. Fred Schoettger of Ainsworth, Nebraska, and two brothers - Henry of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and William of Wyoming. The funeral was held Sunday morning with short services first at the home and then at 10:30 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church east of Hooper, NE, of which Mr. Mueller had been a long time and faithful member. A very concourse of friends were at the services and to hear the word of comfort and tribute as spoken by Pastor Rev. E. Eckhardt. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
