Description	:	Louis PELTIER Civil War Veteran .. 43rd Missouri Infantry. Related to Mrs. Blanch CORELL & Mrs. R. C. STEPHENSON -------- Mr. Peltier was born in St. Joseph, Mo., September 17, 1847. He is a son of the late Stanislaus and Odelia Peltier. He was one of a family of four children, two girls and two boys. One sister is Mrs. Elizabeth Cliff, St. Louis, Missouri. In April of 1864, at age 16, Mr. Peltier joined the Union Army in the Civil War. He acted as a drummer for eighteen months and served until his discharge at the close of the war. He... In April of 1864, at age 16, Mr. Peltier joined the Union Army in the Civil War. He acted as a drummer for eighteen months and served until his discharge at the close of the war. He took part in the battle of Lookout Ridge, and also was with Sherman in his march to the sea. He sustained a slight wound in one of his legs during one of these engagements. Mr. Peltier was captured by southern forces and imprisoned for four months in Andersonville prison. At the close of the war he returned to his home in St. Joseph, Missouri. He married Sarah Balcom July 11, 1869 on Bowen’s Prairie, where he farmed. In 1888 he retired from active farm work and moved to Monticello where he was employed by the J.S.
