Description	:	Louis Peter Jones was born near Halmstad, Sweden, July 19, 1863, and came to America at the age of 18, settling first in Polk County, later in Hamilton County near the present town of Hordville. On November 4, 1887, he was united in marriage to Josephine Benson. This union was blessed with ten children, six sons and four daughters. Read More	Louis Peter Jones was born near Halmstad, Sweden, July 19, 1863, and came to America at the age of 18, settling first in Polk County, later in Hamilton County near the present town of Hordville. On November 4, 1887, he was united in marriage to Josephine Benson. This union was blessed with ten children, six sons and four daughters. He remained on his farm for 35 years, until the fall of 1918, when he retired and moved to Hordville. He resided here until 1934, at which time he and his wife moved to Grand island where he lived until 1940. From that time he made his home with his daughter, Mrs john Ericksen at Hampton, until the final summons came. Mr Jones was converted and joined the First Baptist Church on January 1, 1907. He was active in church work and instrumental in having the church moved from the country to Hordville. He contributed most liberally to its support and served as a member of the board of trustees for many years. He was a kind, loving father, always devoted to his home and family. His grandchildren have many beautiful memories of him. He was always mindful of their happiness and seemed to be most delighted when they were about him. In May 1940, the Angel of Death entered his home and claimed his faithful and devoted wife, who for so many years had stood by him in days of pioneer hardships, as well as days of joy and happiness. This was a hard blow to Mr Jones, but he bore up bravely as a loyal soldier of Jesus Christ. He passed away on September 8, 1946 after an illness of three weeks, at the St Francis hospital at Grand Island, having attained the age of 83 years, 1 month, and 21 days. He is survived by six sons and four daughters: Charles E, O’Neill, Nebr.; Clarence H, Moline, Ill.; Reuben L, Orlon, Ill.; Harold W, Faben, Texas; Hilmer G, Hordville; Mrs Ruth Lindburg, Polk; Mrs Norma Gustafson, Hordville; Mrs Myrtle Hassell, Grand island; Mrs Evangeline Ericksen, Hampton; and Lawrence P, Grand island. He also leaves 23 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; 3 brothers and one sister, Alfred and Emil of Hordville, and John of Los Angeles, Calif., and Mrs J Reed of Canada, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at the home of Mr and Mrs J.L. Ericksen at Hampton on Wednesday, September 11th at 1:30 PM, and at the First Baptist church, Hordville at 2:30 PM, with Rev Edick A Anderson officiating. Burial was in the Hordville cemetery.
