Description	:	Lucy was born in New York about 1837. She married Harmon Ranney on July 3, 1853 in Green County, Wisconsin. Harmon and Lucy are listed in the 1860 census in Brooklin, Green County, Wisconsin with three of their children, Louisa, Sara, and Flora. In 1866, Harmon and Lucy, with five small children, boarded a steamboat in Janesville, Wisconsin and traveled to Fort Benton. By 1870, they were living in the Missouri River Valley, Montana Territory, and seven children are listed in the census: Louisa Jane, Sara Janette, Flora Ann, Mary Evaline, Charles Francis, George Frederick, and Rosetta Ida. By 1890, they were living at Mitchell Gulch, east of Helena. “Mrs. Lucy Ann Ranney, wife of Herman (sic) Ranney, died yesterday (April 15) at the family home, Mitchell’s Gulch, after a brief illness. She was taken sick on Sunday, and passed away within forty-eight hours of heart failure, superiduced by a kidney malady. The deceased was an estimable lady, respected by all who knew her. The funeral takes place on Wednesday, 16th, after which the remains will be convened to Helena for interment.” (Helena Weekly Herald, 4/17/1890) Herrmann & Co. Funeral Home: 4/15/1890, Herman Renney, (sic) East Helena, ordered by J. W. O’Neil and Joe H. Smith. O.G. Burl Case and outside box $45.00, one # robe cream $6.50, digging of grave $6.00, total charge $57.50. Note: Harmon Ranney died on August 7, 1900. She does not have a marker or tombstone.
