Description	:	Louisa Bauer was born near Mt Pulaski, Illinois, on March 11, 1862, and passed away at the family home near Beattie, Kansas, on April 18, 1938, at the age of 76 years, one month and seven days. Mrs Hockman had been an invalid for eight years, and for the past two years and three months she has been bedfast, and at times suffered intensely. Read More	Louisa Bauer was born near Mt Pulaski, Illinois, on March 11, 1862, and passed away at the family home near Beattie, Kansas, on April 18, 1938, at the age of 76 years, one month and seven days. Mrs Hockman had been an invalid for eight years, and for the past two years and three months she has been bedfast, and at times suffered intensely. In the spring of 1871, she came with her parents, to Marshall County, Kansas, and settled near the present site of Beattie. Here she received her education and grew to woman hood. She knew the hardships of pioneer life. She learned what it was to fight prairie fires. Her father's farm was the camping grounds of several tribes of Indians as they went from one tribe to another for visits. On April 21, 1891, she was united in marriage to Samuel B Hockman. To this union were born three daughters and two sons. The oldest and the youngest daughters died in infancy and one son, Fredrick passed away in 1932. She is survived by her aged husband; one daughter, Mrs Lillian Ringen of Beattie; one son, Daniel C Hockman, of Modesto, California; one grandson, Willis E Ringen; and two sisters, Mrs Sarah Hockman and Emma Bauer of Beattie. She is also survived by a foster sister, Mrs Roy King of Frankfort; and by other relatives and friends. Mrs Hockman was a faithful member of the Methodist Church. She was a faithful and loving wife and mother, and a good neighbor. Funeral services were held at the Beattie Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon. The funeral sermon was by Rev J A Strohm, pastor of the Richland Center Church, who chose as his text, Romans 14:7. Appropriate music was rendered by a quartette from the Richland Church composed of Mr and Mrs Earl Lynch, Mrs J A Strohm and Ray Bergman, with Mrs Joe Young at the piano. Interment was in the Beattie Union Cemetery.
