Read More	Obituary Memphis Reville, September 1923 (used with permission) Louisa Gallington--oldest daughter of John and Lydia Gallington, was born Jan. 2, 1825 in Ithaca, Thomkins County, New York. Her death occurred Aug. 26, 1923. Her span of life is 98 years, 7 months, and 24 days. The child, Louisa gave her heart to God and was received into the Baptist Church. This church had no organization where she lived in afteryears; she then united with the Methodist Episcopal people with whom her membership remained unitl the end of her life, she being true to its faith. She married Jess Drake and lived in Ohio; later moving to Wisconsin. To this union six children were born, four girls and two boys. Mrs. Nettie North, of Canby, Minnesota, Mrs. Emily Eggleston, of Memphis, Mo., Mrs. Jennie Alger, of Oskosh, Wisconsin, William Drake, of Berlin, Wisconsin, John Drake of Walla Walla, Washington. Another daughter died at eight years, the others are all living. There are sixteen grandchildren, twenty-three great grandchildren, and seven great-great grandchildren. All living but a grandson recently deceased. In 1881 Mr. and Mrs. Drake with their unmarried children came to Missouri and lived with their daughter, Mrs. Austin Eggleston on Mr. Eggleston's farm near Brock. After the death of her husband, Mrs. Drake became a permanent member of this devoted family, and went with them in 1911 when they left their farm home for one in Memphis, Mo. In this dear home for forty-one years she lived, the centre of all the family life, receiving every care and attention, love could bestow. Much of the time she was a great sufferer from scalds received in youth injuring the muscles which grew worse with years, causing much suffering. She loved with devotion her children and their children; she never lost interest in passing events; she was true to her friends, loyal to her church and country. After women received the franchise she was delighted when a dear grandson carried her to cast her first vote. Her quiet patience has been an inspiration to her loved ones and friends. And "Grandma's" life will long be remembered, while her prayers breathed on the still air has been heard by the Father and will be answered in the lives of those dear ones. We cannot mourn because on Sunday morning God sent His messenger to touch her tired eyes and tell her, "It is finished, the Master calls you home." We know this redeemed soul on opening her Spiritual eyes will behold that which morals know not of such glad surprise, and joy, now hers forever. Long she has dwelt on the border land knowing this day would come, while with the Savior by her side she has fought her battle with pain; He giving her comfort and peace. Funeral services were held at Brock Monday afternoon conducted by Rev. E. C. Morgan. Burial in Brock Cemetery. Note: Transcription from Gene Bruner
