Mary Rund∼Evening Times-Republican, Marshalltown, Iowa ~ 26 Dec 1911, Tue • Page 9 Mrs Jane Richardson who had been a resident of this community over forty-six years, died at her home in Gilman at 2 o'clock a.m. Monday, December 25, aged 65 years, 3 months and 21 days. The cause of death was a complication of diseases that Mrs. Richardson had been afflicted with for years. It certainly was a grief-stricken family that bade mother good-by as Christmas was approaching the dawning. Louisa Jane Richardson was born in Pennsylvania September 4, 1846. At the age of 8 years she moved with her parents to Henry county, Ill. Here she was married to James A. Richardson July 17, 1864, and to this union were born nine children, of whom three girls and two boys died at an early age, and the husband and father died Feb. 21, 1887. The surviving children are Mrs. Stella Beaty, Walter, Edgar, and Robert of Gilman. In July, 1865, Mrs. Richardson, with her husband, came to Jasper county, Iowa, and settled on a farm on the prairie in Hickory Grove township, where she resided until she moved with her family into Gilman in October, 1909. Mrs. Richardson was a cheerful Christian lady, one of those unselfish, sweet-dispositioned people to whom everybody is a friend and no one an enemy. She lived for those around her and as a true wife and mother she was beloved by her family. As a neighbor and friend she was warm-hearted and sympathetic and those who knew her best esteemed her most. Many are those who will keep her kind acts fresh in their memory. The funeral was held while the Dispatch was at press Wednesday after noon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H.L. Wissler, pastor of the Chester Congregation church officiating, the services being held at the home. Interment followed in Prairie View Cemetery. Relatives from abroad who attended the funeral were Marion Richardson and wife, Woodhull, Ill.; Frank and David Green, Algona.
