Description	:	Louisa Lewis was born in Gloucestershire, England, A.D. April 25th 1843 (actual date was April 1 at quarter past 12 oclock P.M. at Westrip in the Parish of Randwick) and died at her home in Louise, Fla. January 2 1922, aged 78 years 8 months and 8 days. She was united in marriage to William Birt of London, England A.D. 1863. To the union, was born seven children two of which (sic), four were born in England, the others in America. The family emigrated to America in 1870 and settled in Connecticut, where they resided about 5 years, then moved to Louise... Read More	Louisa Lewis was born in Gloucestershire, England, A.D. She was united in marriage to William Birt of London, England A.D. 1863. To the union, was born seven children two of which (sic), four were born in England, the others in America. The family emigrated to America in 1870 and settled in Connecticut, where they resided about 5 years, then moved to Louise Florida where they began life as pioneers of this, at that time, sparsely settled country, where the mother has resided with her family until the present time. Mother Birt was converted at an early age and united with the Methodist Church in London, England. After coming to this country, she united with the Mount Sinai Baptist Church and has been a loyal supporter of our faith since. Her Christ like life, has been a great blessing to her children who were left to a widow mothers care, the father having died in the year 1887 while the children were very young. Five of the children survive her; vis William Birt of Louis, Fla., Thomas Birt of Melrose, Fla., George Birt of Waterbury, Fla., Charles Birt of Hawthorne, Fla., and one daughter, Mrs. G. M. DeSha of Waldo, Fla., also there I left one brother, Henry Lewis of Gainesville, Fla., to mourn the loss of an only sister. The end of a cosecrated (sic), earnest, gentle, Christian life, came peacefully, and apparently without pain and the happy spirit went home to enjoy eternal rest. The writer conducted the funeral service in the presence of a large congregation at the cemetery at Waldo, January 3 1922. Where the remains of this fine old Mother in Israel were laid to rest. May Gods comforting care be around her loved ones and his spirit guide them to the Heavenly Portals where they will meet, father, mother and other loved ones, to part no more.
