Description	:	"When Laura was 8 years old, she went to Mayfield, Illinois, with her parents, Thomas & Sarah Sillibeer Mumford, who were natives of England and on crossing the Atlantic to America settled in Nova Scotia. Later they became residents of Illinois, where their last days were spent. They had a family of five daughters and one son. On Feb. 24, 1853, in Mayfield, Illinois, Laura was married to Seymour W. Hix. They lived to celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary. Mr. & Mrs. Hix followed a progressive and liberal policy with their children. They allowed them to play cards... Walter W., a resident of Rhodes, Iowa; 3. Amy, wed Asa Mead and resides two miles south of Nevada; 4. Albert D., living in Zearing, Story county; 5. Charles E., a resident of Mitchell, South Dakota; 6. Harry J., of Portland, Oregon; 7. Susan I., wed Frank Eddy, of Sherman township; 8. Major E., who died at the age of six months; 9.
