Interment will follow at the Delta United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mrs. Joyce was born on June 6, 1909 in Stokes County, to the late A. J. "Babe" Brown and the late Cordelia Sowers Brown. She retired from Washington Mills in 1972 where she worked in the sewing department. She was a member of Mayodan United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Richardson Bible Class and the Women's Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death in 1955 by her first husband, Clavis Carter and in 1970 by her second husband, James Noel Joyce, sisters, Jessie Brown Amos, Pearl Brown Ferguson, Minnie Brown Wilson, and Deb Brown, brothers, Troy Brown and Henry Brown. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and a very special friend, Wendy Bullins. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at Ray Funeral Home in Madison. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mayodan United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 219, Mayodan, NC 27027.
