Description	:	Louise Caroline (Schroeder) Hannappel, 93, of Clarks died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Tiffany Square in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peters Catholic Church in Clarks. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery near Clarks. Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a rosary service at 7:30. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Hannappel, and a son, Gerald. Survivors of the immediate family include her children, Wallace (Phyllis) Hannappel of Cozad, Darlene Hannappel of Phoenix, Louis Hannappel of Minden, Dale (Sue) Hannappel of Clarks, Maxine (Mel) Paul of Phoenix, Joyce (Dennis) VanPelt of Ames, Iowa, Larry (Kathy) Hannappel of Woodland Park, Colo., Don (Shannon) Hannappel of Clarks and Tom Hannappel of Denver; 31 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Harsh of Yacapai, Calif., and Ethel (Bob) Hohl of Wahoo; brother, Cecil (Dorothy) Schroeder of Buena Park, Calif.; and a daughter-in-law, Jeanie Hannappel of Phoenix. Also left to cherish her memory are a number of nieces and nephews. Louise was the third of 10 children. Louise graduated from Platte Center High School in 1933 and then worked in Columbus until her mother passed away in 1936. At that time, she decided to stay home and help take care of her younger sisters and brothers. After 2 years, Louise's dad knew she needed to be on her own and find a job. It was at that time that John Hannappel was searching for someone to help care for his four young children. Louise moved to Clarks and immediately got busy taking care of the young children and helping out with daily farm chores. Louise then took a position as a housekeeper in Columbus, before returning to Clarks to be with the family she had fallen in love with John. John and Louise were married in 1940. Through this union they were blessed with six more children. During their retirement years, they enjoyed traveling. In 1972, John and Louise moved into Clarks. John passed away in 1977. Louise belonged to St. Peters Catholic Church and was a member of the Altar Society. She belonged to the Clarks Senior Citizen Group and enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and going on Senior Center trips. Louise leaves a legacy of the importance of hard work, love and laughter. She will be remembered for her dedication in caring for her younger brothers and sisters, four young children and adding six more children to make her family complete. She touched many lives in a special way and helped others because of what she did with her life. Louise's life was based on her deep trust and love for God. She instilled these beliefs and teachings in her children, to love each other as God loves them. This love was evidenced by the care and support Louise was given by her family and the loving care that she received from the staff of Tiffany Square. She was also preceded in death by her son Louis' wife, Lila Hannappel; grandson, Doug Hannappel and great-grandson, Lawson Hannappel; two brothers, Alfred and Harold; and four sisters, Evelyn, Mary, Audrey and Helen.
