Louise passed away peacefully on April 23, 2014, surrounded by family, in the Wausa (NE.) Golden Living Center. (Docken) Seger was born to Roy L. and Muriel B. (Hixson) Docken, on May 1, 1930 in Foster, Nebraska. Louise passed away peacefully on April 23, 2014, surrounded by family, in the Wausa (NE.) Golden Living Center. Until recently diagnosed with cancer, she lived independently at her home in Wausa, Nebraska. Louise was baptized in the Methodist church. She grew up on farms near Pierce, Nebraska with her siblings, LeElla and Alan "Bud". She attended Pierce County rural schools, Osmond High School, and graduated from Ada High School in Ada, Minnesota, in 1947. She attended Wayne (NE.) State College and taught in rural schools in Pierce and Knox counties for four years. After completing her two-year teaching course, she taught elementary first through third grades for four years in Wausa and Columbus, Nebraska city schools. On June 17, 1955, Louise was married to Carl Wesley Seger at the Methodist Church in Pierce. The young couple lived on the Seger farm in Dowling Township a mile west and three and a half miles north of Wausa throughout their married life. Three children were born to them: Wendy, Linda, and Darcy. They raised their family on the Seger farm until Wesley passed away in 1977. About a year later, Louise moved into Wausa, Nebraska, where she resided until shortly before her death. Louise was an active member of Thabor Lutheran Church where she was instrumental in starting the church library and the Prayer Shawl Ministry. Through the years, she taught Sunday School, lead Bible studies and the Thabor Teens, served many positions in the Women of the ELCA organization, sewed quilts for Lutheran World Relief, crafted Norwegian Hardanger embroidery altar linens, organized and made Chrismons for the church sanctuary, and sang in the church choir. Within the Wausa community, she was employed at the Lincoln Township Library, Creutz Drug Store, Wausa Insurance Agency, the Wausa Gazette, and served as the Wausa Village Clerk. She was an active leader and organizer in starting the Busy Gals 4-H club, Piecemakers Quilting Club, and Sons of Norway-Lillehammer Lodge. She also served many years in various functions assisting with the annual Wausa Smorgasbord. Louise was an avid reader and always enjoyed learning and then teaching others, of all ages! She enjoyed sharing her favorite pastime, "stitching and sewing." Many will remember her through her quilting, knitting, hardanger, embroidery, tatting and sewing. She was also a wonderful cook and will be remembered for her sticky rolls, Osta kaka, and fried chicken. Other interests included gardening and genealogy. In 1983, she enjoyed a trip to Norway, the home of her paternal grandparents. Louise was preceded in death by parents; sister, LeElla Mjoen; brother, Alan "Bud" Docken; husband and son-in-law, Jim Navarra. Louise was intelligent, beautiful, loving, and filled with grace. She was proud of her independent nature. She touched countless lives and brought joy with every smile. She will be sorely missed by those who remain behind and embraced by those who preceded her. From Psalm 28:7, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in Him, and I am helped." Memorial services for Louise E. Seger, will be at a later date in July of 2014, under the direction of Brockhaus Funeral Home Wausa, Nebraska.
