Moore G. Bell, with favorite hymns sung by Edward Currie, Mrs. Forrest Wanberg, Mrs. U.G. Pedersen and Earl Olsen, accompanied by Mrs. J. H. Feldhans. Louisa Grundmeier was born December 24, 1862 in Stemmen, Lippe Detmold, Germany, and passed away at her home in Schaller on July 10. After education and training in the primary school and in the church in her native country, she emigrated to to the United States of America at the age of 18 years. After working out for several years, on January 1, 1885 she was united in marriage to John Franken, young Buena Vista county farmer. To this union were born five children: Lena (Mrs. P.J. Koenen), Herman and Walter, all now living in the Schaller community and Henry of Vail, and Rudolph, who died at the age of five years. Mrs. Franken was a member of the Emmanuel Reformed church, transferring her membership to the First Presbyterian church in Schaller in 1931. Mr. Franken passed away on Oct, 31, 1931 and since that time Mrs. Franken has lived alone. She leaves to mourn her death, her family, mentioned above, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, many other relatives and a host of friends.
