Agrigultural School and Mayville State Teacher's College, and became a school teacher. October 26, 1941, in Park River, she married Oscar Helgeson and they moved to Grand Forks, where they raised three daughters and Oscar worked for Minnesota Dairy. Louise was active life-long in her church and community, especially her daughters' schools, United Lutheran Church, and the Sons of Norway.
